Edge tool of construction for limited space┃Tyhen foundation KR90A performed outstandingly in the factory foundation reinforcement project of Luoyang

Recently, KR90A rotary drilling rig of Tyhen foundation is constructed a factory foundation reinforcement project of Luoyang, Henan Province. It is reported that the geology is backfill of stones and silt, foundation settlement will cause cracks and affect the safety of the surficial construction. The process at the job site involves first grouting to fill cracks and backfill gaps in the strata, followed by the use of bored pile drilling to create a foundation support for the new surface structure, ultimately achieving the goal of ground reinforcement.

The difficulties of this project are:

1. Construction in the factory with the height limit 12 m, the construction space is narrow, drilling diameter 600mm and drilling depth 20~25m.

2. The geology is mainly backfilling silt, large and numerous stones, so the holes are easy to collapse.

3. The cement slurry injected into the cracks and gaps resulted in uneven hardness during drilling, making it susceptible to deviation. To address these challenges, engineers from Tyhen Foundation devised a technical solution. They selected skilled operators and leveraged the advantages of the KR90A rotary drilling rig, using a combination of double-bottom sand augers and spiral drilling heads. This approach allowed them to control the rig's pressure and take advantage of its high torque characteristics, successfully penetrating the backfilled strata. As a result, construction costs were reduced for the client, earning unanimous praise from the project's primary stakeholders.

Tysim KR90A rotary drilling rig features an 86kW engine, weighs 25 tons, and can bore holes with diameters ranging from 400mm to 1200mm, with a maximum depth of up to 28 meters. The rig is designed with a lightweight construction, resulting in lower power consumption by the engine due to its reduced weight. Under equivalent construction conditions, most of the engine's effective power is dedicated to drilling operations. Additionally, the drilling rods used with the rig are lightweight, allowing for a maximum hoisting and lowering speed of up to 75m/min under the same safety factor conditions. The rig's rotation speed can reach 5r/min, and the power head can rotate rapidly at 8-30r/min. This design ensures fast soil penetration, low fuel consumption, and higher construction efficiency.
